Staying organized year-round in your home and personal life is important. For a lot of families, summertime can throw a fastball through your home and overall day-to-day schedule. Here are some organizational tips to improve your summer and leave you with plenty of time to relax and enjoy friends and family.
- Reusable Zip bags for all your poolside things – You can find these in the Target dollar spot, and they are a game changer for organizing your summer grab bag. Put sunscreen, small pool toys, diapers and wipes, some cash for the ice cream truck — whatever you find yourself needing when on the go this summer.
- Grab and Go bag – Have a pool or outing bag ready with all the essentials including your plastic zip bag holding all your sunscreen and smaller essentials inside. Make sure to include towels, changes of clothes, and small snacks and water bottles.
- Develop a Routine Modified – Summer can be a break, or a disruption to your work week. No matter which, setting a routine for how your days or weeks are structured can go a long way to staying productive, on task and maximizing your relaxation or family time.
- Establish Drop Zones – Make sure you have designated places in your home for dropping wet towels, flip flops, sandy toys etc. This helps you and your kids keep up with the added mess summertime can bring. Make it everyone’s responsibility to keep up with their things.
- Plan for Fall –Use hot summer days, to stay inside the A/C and slowly clean out areas where things have accumulated throughout the school year. Empty backpacks and sort out old school supplies and papers. Make a list of what your new college freshman may need in their dorm and keep an eye open for sales. Take advantage of online and garage sales to find inexpensive kitchen items, bedding and small furniture items. Clean out old or out-grown clothing. Set small goals that are achievable in an hour and tackle them one at a time to keep from getting overwhelmed.
These five tips are simple and will leave you organized and ready to enjoy summer to its fullest. Do you have any summertime organization tips to share? Let me know in the comments.
