31 Items To Pack in Your Financial Emergency Kit

Plenty of people, especially those who live in fire-prone, tornado or hurricane-vulnerable areas, have emergency kits and “bug-out” bags: supplies to keep them going if they need to leave home in a hurry. But in addition to items that can help you physically in an emergency, it’s a good idea to put together a “financial emergency kit”: information and documents that could help keep your life “running” and get you access to help you need even if you’re away from home for an extended period of time. https://clark.com/family-lifestyle/financial-emergency-kit/?utm_source=Clark.com&utm_campaign=140cac44e2-Clark_Daily_Newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_afa92deb83-140cac44e2-72870477

5 Ideas to Keep You Organized this Summer

Staying organized year-round in your home and personal life is important. For a lot of families, summertime can throw a fastball through your home and overall day-to-day schedule. Here are some organizational tips to improve your summer and leave you with plenty of time to relax and enjoy friends and family.

  1. Reusable Zip bags for all your poolside things – You can find these in the Target dollar spot, and they are a game changer for organizing your summer grab bag. Put sunscreen, small pool toys, diapers and wipes, some cash for the ice cream truck — whatever you find yourself needing when on the go this  summer.
  2. Grab and Go bag – Have a pool or outing bag ready with all the essentials including your plastic zip bag holding all your sunscreen and smaller essentials inside. Make sure to include towels, changes of clothes, and small snacks and water bottles.
  3. Develop a Routine Modified – Summer can be a break, or a disruption to your work week. No matter which, setting a routine for how your days or weeks are structured can go a long way to staying productive, on task and maximizing your relaxation or family time.
  4. Establish Drop Zones – Make sure you have designated places in your home for dropping wet towels, flip flops, sandy toys etc. This helps you and your kids keep up with the added mess summertime can bring. Make it everyone’s responsibility to keep up with their things.
  5. Plan for Fall –Use hot summer days, to stay inside the A/C and slowly clean out areas where things have accumulated throughout the school year. Empty backpacks and sort out old school supplies and papers. Make a list of what your new college freshman may need in their dorm and keep an eye open for sales. Take advantage of online and garage sales to find inexpensive kitchen items, bedding and small furniture items. Clean out old or out-grown clothing. Set small goals that are achievable in an hour and tackle them one at a time to keep from getting overwhelmed.

These five tips are simple and will leave you organized and ready to enjoy summer to its fullest. Do you have any summertime organization tips to share? Let me know in the comments.

In the article TIME shared the story of 81 year old Ruth Byock, and her passing. Living without Ruth was hard on her family but to their surprise she had created a “When I Die” file to help her family during this hard time.

Most of us are not thinking about when we are gone because we a re busy living in the now. However, for your loved ones it is important to plan ahead.

3 Holiday Organizing Tips

Getting organized this time of year can be a challenge. With the holidays, travel and people in and out of your home, it can be hard to keep up with it all during the most wonderful time of year.

  1. Make sure to have good storage for your holiday decor. When you bring it out, swop any other decor you are not using and store it in the holiday bins. That way when it is time to take it all down you can just swop things out.
  2. Organize your pantry and make sure all holiday cooking spices and ingredients are easy to get to when cooking holidays meals or treats
  3. Make sure you clean up directly after having guests. I know this might be the last thing you want to do after hosting but cleaning up right away makes sure it goest done. This will help keep your house in order this holiday season.

These three tips are simple but guaranteed to have a positive impact on your organization and over all stress level and order in your home this holiday season.
